Two Reasons to Get a Credit Report (CCRIS)

We have all been told how important it is to have a decent credit report very often. It is ideal to have a perfect credit score, but even if yours is a bit blemished, the first step to improving it is to figure out what is causing your issues.

Your credit report is not only accessible to financial institutions and creditors. You can also access your financial report card. In this article, we will show you how to get your credit report or CCRIS report.

Reason to get the CCRIS Credit Report

1. Keep a record of your financial standings.

With your credit report in hand, you’ll be able to maintain track of your financial standing and address any issues that arise. Especially if you’ve ever been a guarantor for someone or had a lot of loans to keep track of.

2. Prompt Resolution of Credit Issues

Prevent yourself from being unaware and do not be frightened to learn about your credit scores and performance. Because you are the only one who can make a difference by paying on time and in full. At the very least, you will know why your new credit card application was denied and who should be held accountable.

Way to get a CCRIS Credit Report

First, you will need to bring your MyKad ID to Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM). Head to the credit kiosk machine and insert your MyKad into the slot. You will be prompted to place your right thumb for verification purposes. Then you will receive your CCRIS report as soon as it prints out the paper.

If you are unable to visit BNM, you may submit your application in writing, along with an application form and supporting documents such as a copy of your MyKad or passport (if you are a non-citizen), driver’s licence, and utility bills, through e-mail or fax. This process will take up to 4 weeks and will be forwarded to your home because your report will be sent to your nearest financial institution. Although it is not as handy as going to a kiosk, not everyone lives close enough to a BNM office or branch.

It is recommended that you receive your credit report once every six months to maintain track of your credit status.
